The spectacular restoration of Crystal Springs Creek undertaken over the last two years at Westmoreland Park has made a huge difference in the water quality and habitat values of the creek. Unfortunately—and to no one’s surprise—invasive plants continue to creep into the riparian area among the red osier, beggar’s tick and other northwest natives. To keep down the weeds as the beautiful native plantings become established, the Crystal Springs Partnership, in collaboration with Portland Parks, the Johnson Creek Watershed Council and others, has organized several weeding parties over the next few months.

All the weeding parties (with the exception of our collaboration in the Johnson Creek Watershed Council’s Watershed Wide Event) will be held on the 4th Sunday of each month, from 9am to noon.
Coffee, tea, snacks and camaraderie will be on hand at all events. Dress for the weather, and feel free to bring hand tools and gloves, though we'll have extras. Parties currently scheduled are below, and more restoration activities along the creek will be arranged as spring progresses.
